Harmony Headlands State Park

Harmony Headlands State Park offers one of the most peaceful coastal hikes in the county — a roughly 1.5-mile (each way) trail that crosses rolling grassland and follows a willow-lined creek before opening onto pristine, undeveloped ocean bluffs. Because the only way to reach the shoreline is on foot, the headlands stay quiet and wild, with sweeping views, tidepools at the cliff base, and frequent wildlife including deer, hawks, and migrating whales offshore. The out-and-back trail is mostly flat and family-friendly, making it an ideal introduction to the Central Coast's bluff country. Wildflowers carpet the hills in spring, and the lack of development means the only sounds are wind, surf, and birdsong. It's a hidden gem just off Highway 1 between Cayucos and Cambria, near the famously tiny town of Harmony.
