Pratt Trail to Valley View Preserve

📸 Scenic
🦅 Wildlife
A classic Ojai hike from the edge of town up into the chaparral hills with Topatopa and valley views.
Pratt Trail leaves the top of Signal Street and climbs steeply into the Los Padres National Forest backcountry, with options for short out-and-backs to a creek crossing or longer climbs to ridge vistas. It connects to the Valley View Preserve trail network managed by the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy. Cooler, shadier, and rougher than Shelf Road — a proper hike.
🌟 Why Locals Love It
You're climbing into real wilderness within minutes of downtown Ojai.
What to Expect
Steep singletrack, oak shade, creek crossings, and views back over the valley.
💡 Good to Know Before You Go
Trail can be hot in summer. Watch for poison oak and rattlesnakes in season.
📍 Local Tip
Combine Pratt with Foothill Trail for a loop with the best views on the route.
