354 acres of rolling open space and a freshwater reservoir — a local favorite for steady-climb hikes and lake-loop runs.

Peters Canyon Regional Park sits between Tustin and Orange and runs around the Peters Canyon Reservoir. The signature outing is the 'Lake View Loop' — a steady-climb fire road that circles the canyon with consistent views back to the water. The park supports hikers, runners, and mountain bikers, and it's one of the most-used training routes for everyday OC athletes. The reservoir is also a notable urban birding area, especially in winter migration.

🌟 Why Locals Go Here

Real elevation gain, real views, no permits, and you can be back to your car in 90 minutes. The OC weeknight hike.

What to Expect

Wide, exposed fire-road trails with steady climbs and descents. Lake View Loop is roughly 5 miles with around 600 feet of gain.

💡 Good to Know Before You Go

Per-vehicle entry fee. Very limited shade — start early in summer. Trail surface is mostly hard-packed dirt and gravel.

📍 Local Tip

Climb the East Ridge first and finish along the lake — the grade is friendlier and the views build instead of front-loading.

Best Time to Visit

Cooler months and early-morning summer. Sunsets are excellent year-round.
