🦅 Wildlife

A long natural-surface trail running the Arroyo Trabuco wilderness corridor from O'Neill Regional Park down toward Mission Viejo.

The Arroyo Trabuco Trail follows the bottom of the Arroyo Trabuco wilderness corridor — a long, undeveloped canyon stitching O'Neill Regional Park to Mission Viejo. The trail is mostly natural surface, with creek crossings, mature oak and sycamore canopy in shaded sections, and easy access from staging areas along the route. It's one of the calmest long-walk options in south OC, especially after winter rain when the creek runs.

🌟 Why Locals Go Here

It feels like a serious backcountry hike but you're never far from town. Great for long, slow miles.

What to Expect

Wide, mostly flat natural-surface trail with creek crossings. Out-and-back from either end.

💡 Good to Know Before You Go

Free public access. Some sections close after heavy rain. Watch for poison oak in shaded creek bottoms.

📍 Local Tip

Park at Tijeras Creek Golf trailhead area for the cleanest middle-of-the-canyon access.

Best Time to Visit

October through May.
